What better way to spend your weekend than being motivated and inspired as you explore the big questions in life and uncover how to create lasting, genuine happiness for yourself, those you love and those in your care.

Dr Maria Siroisinspirational psychologist and consultant who teaches internationally at the intersection of resilience and flourishing; author of Happiness After LossUSA 

We are in a time of continued unrest and uncertainty.  What had been true prior to COVID-19 is no longer true for many of us in the realms of work, love, friendship, health, community and meaning.  And in this time of unsettling and recalibration we are asked to determine over and over again the answers to three crucial questions:   

  • How do I sustain myself and those I care for?   
  • How do I build optimism and move forward even as my heart is weary and filled with suffering?   
  • How do I determine the next better steps?   

Weaving principles and practices from the fields of mind/body medicine, resilience and positive psychology, we will examine together what the most resilient of us know about recovery, hope, meaning and holding paradox.   

Attendees will leave with specific practices that increase capacity and optimism while honouring our sorrow, anxiety and fear.   

WORKSHOP 2 - 11:30 - 13:00


Dr Robert Biswas-Diener, pioneer in the application of positive psychology and leading authority on strengths, culture, courage and happiness, USA 

Resilience is the capacity to bounce back after tough times. Presilience, by contrast, is strengthening the self to the point that life’s occasional knocks hurt less to begin with.  

The topic of strengths might be familiar to those who have taken the Strengths Finder or VIA assessments. In this workshop, Dr. Robert Biswas-Diener presents a fresh masterclass on the topic of strengths. Robert will focus on the importance of strength labels, why using strengths less is sometimes a smart strategy, and the link between strengths and passions.  

Learning Outcomes 
Participants in this workshop will be able to: 

  • Articulate one reason people focus on weaknesses instead of strengths 
  • List two outcomes of strengths use
  • Name 10 common strengths 

WORKSHOP 3 - 13:30 - 15:00

Build Your Ideal Day is a strength based approach which helps people move from awareness to lasting healthy habit change. Our goal is to shrink the change required to maintain wellbeing and find the small choices that have a big impact and help you be your best at both work and in life.

  • Use strengths-based techniques to create lasting change by shrinking the change required

This workshop ties the stories and science from Jono Lineen’s book Perfect Motion: How walking makes us wiser into participants personal creative practice and gives them a set of tools to enhance those practices at home.  

For four million years walking has inspired human creativity. In this workshop author and museum curator Dr. Jono Lineen explains how to unlock your creative power using humankind’s simplest locomotion.  

Through talks and practice you will learn how walking generates our most innovative states of mind and how different styles of walking can assist anyone in overcoming creative obstacles.

Learn how to write a personal purpose statement that captures how they may use the best within themselves to pursue long-term life aspirations.

  • Participants will learn how to use their personal purpose statements to infuse everyday life with meaning.

The Buddhist view is that we’ve all got extraordinary potential to cultivate our minds, our consciousness. It’s not some special gift that only some people have; it’s innate within all of us.  

But potential for what? Not something holy, like heaven in the sky, or next life, but potential to lessen fear, depression, anxiety and neediness and to grow love, contentment, clarity, and self-confidence. We’re not set in stone. 

In this workshop we’ll talk about how by using the skills of meditation we can unpack and unravel our thoughts and feelings, and gradually change them.
