Dr Reena Kotecha

Inspiring medical doctor and employee wellbeing expert, UK

Reena is a medical physician trained at Imperial College London, UK, where she specialised in neuroscience and mental health research. After some years working as a hospital doctor in the National Health Service (NHS) Reena began to struggle with workplace related stress, burnout, anxiety and depression. During a career break she decided to focus on her personal health and wellbeing by taking up mindfulness meditation and incorporating practical positive psychology techniques into her day to day routine. These practices were life changing.

”Often, doctors train and work with the noblest of intentions, to look after patients and put patient care and compassion at the forefront of their practice. Unfortunately the pressures are unrelenting and most within healthcare and other caring professions will care for others so well but overlook the need to look after themselves.”

Reena subsequently developed the ‘Mindful Medics’ programme which continues to enhance the personal and professional lives of healthcare professionals in the UK. Alongside this she expanded her practice to focus on evidence-based approaches that improve employee health and well-being. Reena now works in corporate education as a consultant in global organisations across both private and public sectors.
