PRE-CONFERENCE FULL DAY MASTERCLASS
Date & Time: Wednesday 21 June 2017 9:30-16:30
With Matthieu Ricard, leading humanitarian, Buddhist monk, acclaimed photographer and author on the art and science of meditation, happiness and altruism, Nepal/France
// ABOUT THE MASTERCLASS //
Instinctively, we tend to put all our hopes and fears in the outer world. Yet, our control over the world is limited, temporary and often illusory. Although outer conditions matter and we should improve them as much as possible, it is the mind that translates them into happiness or suffering.
Be uplifted and inspired by Matthieu Ricard, in this informative and engaging workshop. You will discover how to enhance your happiness and that of others by:
• Identifying the mental states that are conducive to your wellbeing and those that destroy it
• Exploring how momentary emotions modify your moods and eventually lead to the formation of your temperament
• Learning techniques to rid your mind of afflictive thoughts
• Training in and meditating on loving kindness, compassion, rejoicing and impartiality
• Examining how to go from the lose-lose situation of selfishness to the win-win attitude of altruistic love
In essence, through sustained training we need to familiarise ourselves with a new way of being, to transform ourselves to better transform the world and contribute to a more compassionate society.
